On August 31, Zhu Yan, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Electrical Engineering, Zhang Fen, Deputy Director of the Student Affairs Office, and Ye Tao, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Electrical Engineering, and others came to the G area of the student dormitory to visit Liu Qianglin, a 23-year student of the School of Electrical Engineering, who returned to school after riding more than 3,100 kilometers.
Liu Qianglin served in the Xinjiang Corps of the Armed Police Force. In September 2023, he returned to school and transferred to the School of Electrical Engineering. He set out from his hometown of Guigang, Guangxi on July 13, passing through 27 cities in 5 provinces (autonomous regions) including Guangxi, Guangdong, Fujian, Zhejiang, and Jiangsu, crossing the southeastern hills and riding freely on the East China Plain. It took 48 days and 3,119 kilometers to arrive at Jiangda on August 30. His cycling deeds were reported by many media such as Yangtze Evening News, Modern Express, Ziniu News, Zhenjiang Education, and Jiangda Official Weibo, which played a good social effect.
The college leaders and teachers presented him with a congratulatory sign, flowers and consolation money for his successful cycling, and exchanged with him his experience and feelings of cycling all the way to school. Liu Qianglin shared his stories of camping and cooking, playing and checking in, repairing a flat tire, meeting fellow hikers on the road, etc. He said, "My experience of being a soldier and cycling has taught me that there is no difficulty that cannot be overcome, unless you give up."
The teachers on the scene were deeply shocked by his story. Zhang Fen asked him to pay attention to supplementing nutrition and restoring his body, and encouraged him to apply the spirit of cycling to professional studies, meet challenges and surpass himself. Zhu Yan said that his cycling deeds and the belief of "reading thousands of books and traveling thousands of miles" are admirable, and he hopes that more students will learn from Liu Qianglin, find goals and passions, and work hard for them.
